The fi rst written mention of Oľšavica dates from 1308, from that period is also the church of St. Nicholas. Folk crafts, weaving, blacksmithing, milling, sewing folk costumes, fl ax processing have a tradition in the village. These are kept alive to this day. The maintenance of traditions is presented by the folklore group Jalinka and Studenočka. Attractions include a Gothic church, a pseudo-karst cave, below Spiška, Gerčak‘s Mill, original folk architecture, wooden houses - wooden granaries and a mineral spring. The settlement Podproč with the church of St. Cyril and Methodius from 1801 is affi liated to the village.
