The oldest known history of the village dates back to 1550. Bobrov is located on the bank of the Orava Dam and in the past was a district town and had city privileges.
The main landmark of Bobrov is the Church of St. James consecrated in 1753. Another important monument is the Bobrov calvary. Calvary is lined with fourteen small chapels at the end of which is a monumental circular brick chapel dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The famous craft history is remembered by two linen manors, which together with the church and calvary are national cultural monuments.
